ABOUT ABOUT

Come On Home, a play by leading Irish playwright Phillip McMahon, premiered at the historic Abbey Theatre in Dublin in the summer of 2018.

Produced by David Kiley. Directed by Jade Sibert

The death of his mother brings Michael (John DeMerell) back to his native small town after a long absence and he resumes his uneasy relationship with his brothers, feckless Ray (Jordan James Hayes) and aggressive Brian (David Kiley). As he hesitantly re-engages with his siblings and their respective partners, unfulfilled Aoife (Kara O’Connor)) and sharp-tongued Martina (Sarah Burcon), he is obliged to confront the frustrations of the present and, inevitably, the ghosts of the past. Chief among these are the circumstances that prompted Michael to leave home for life in London as a gay man.

Also featuring Ben Feliciano as Father Aidan and Peter Knox as Father Seamus.

Artistic Founder David Kiley: “Many an Irish play dealing with serious or even tragic themes end on a somewhat dark note. The Irish are a people of depression, grudges and the literature can often drift to hopelessness. Not this play. McMahon deals with one of the greatest tragedies of our time, but in a way that offers a broad ray of hope for anyone affected by the scandal. It’s funny and poignant, revealing and authentic.”
